Pico Tanks Version 8.0 Update

Pico Tanks is now available on the App Store and Google Play globally! You can discuss this update on the official discussion thread on our subreddit.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To get these changes, please ensure that you have the correct version downloaded on your mobile device. You can check which version you have by tapping on the settings ⚙ in the Pico Tanks Battle Screen.

New Features

  • New ‘Info’ popup lets you view detailed information about every weapon, body and ability including fun new descriptions for each module
  • Fancy new app icon on Android and iOS
  • Added energy bar below player
  • When the game ends in a draw, there is a new ‘Draw’ screen that is triggered

Improvements

  • Skin: Orange metal – now more orange!
  • Skin: Galaxy – visual update
  • Weapon: Minigun – projectiles are visually larger and more obvious
  • Reworked the ground texture in all levels

Audio

  • Added deer sounds
  • Changed some Emoji sounds
  • New sounds when ready up period is about to end
  • Tank health status is now reflected in the engine sounds

  • Made countdown sound quieter

Balancing Changes (General)

  • Doubled the energy charge gained by dealing damage
  • Flag carrier will now drop the flag where they’re destroyed
  • You can now destroy enemy landmines with explosions (Artillery, airstrike, etc.)

Balancing Changes (Weapons)

  • Sniper Rifle: Reload time increased from 1.75s to 3s
  • Needler: Projectile velocity increased from 7 to 8
  • Shotgun: Range increased from 4.5 to 5
  • Shotgun: Projectile velocity increased from 7.5 to 8.5
  • Homing Missile: Cone of detection reduced from 360° to 180°
  • Zapper: Damage increased from 260 to 290
  • Zapper: Damage cone increased from 30° to 35°
  • Injector: Heal amount increased from 1100 to 1600

Balancing Changes (Bodies)

  • Gears: Ability slots reduced from 2 to 1
  • Gears: Energy charge time reduced from 20s to 10s
  • Hovercraft: Energy charge time reduced from 20s to 10s
  • Hovercraft: Energy capacity increased from 4 to 6
  • Large Sidewall: Energy charge time reduced from 20s to 10s
  • Large Sidewall: Energy capacity increased from 4 to 8
  • Monster Truck: Energy charge time reduced from 20s to 10s
  • Monster Truck: Energy capacity increased from 4 to 7
  • Quadcopter: Ability slots decreased from 2 to 1
  • Sports: Ability slots decreased from 2 to 1
  • Standard: Energy charge time reduced from 20s to 10s
  • Training: Energy charge time reduced from 20s to 10s

Balancing Changes (Abilities)

  • Landmine: Can have 2 active landmines on the field at any one time
  • Speed Boost: Energy cost increased from 1 to 2
  • Cannon Turret: Energy cost decreased from 4 to 3
  • Cannon Turret: Health increased from 2200 to 2750
  • Cannon Turret: Can have 2 active turrets on the field at any one time
  • Attack Drone: Can now deploy multiple drones at the same time
  • Support Drone: Can now deploy multiple drones at the same time

Fixes

  • Quadcopter: Fixed visual glitch where quadcopter would not lean the correct way while flying around
  • Cannon Turret: Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when deploying turret in trees or smoke
  • Flame Thrower: Fixed visual glitch on the underside of the weapon
  • Forest KOTF: Fixed a bug where projectiles would sometimes fly through the northern cliff edge
  • Shipping KOTF: Fixed visual artifact on top of some of the lights around the scene
  • Fixed a bug that would cause the game to crash when returning to the menu after selecting a new loadout during a match
  • Fixed a visual glitch that happened when spray weapons (Flame Thrower, Zapper, etc) were fired off the edge of the level
  • Fixed an issue where game was very slow to load around 50%-75% on Android
  • Fixed stuttering when triggering emojis for the first time
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes buttons in the UI would not register a tap
  • Fixed a visual glitch where the smoke grenade disappeared the moment it landed on the floor
  • Fixed health packs not triggering the correct sound when spawned
  • Made is so that you will always appear at the top of the list of players on the ready up screen
